About

Welcome to the Farmer Hayek blog! We hope you'll find our content interesting and certainly welcome any comments, questions, or suggestions you have.

Goal
The goal of this blog is to produce insightful economic commentary related to agriculture and natural resources from a free-market perspective. This means that we are committed to methodological pluralism and believe that optimal policy is always an empirical question. We acknowledge the failure of both markets and governments to live up to the ideal solutions generated by economic models. In policy analysis, we focus on public choice issues while recognizing that conventional analysis is important.

Some content will be directly related to agricultural or natural resource economics and some will be only tangentially related. The contributors of this blog conduct research in a variety of fields of economics, so readers should expect to see a diversity of topics covered.
